Meet the Chair of the Events and Beautification Committees, Kathie Butcher!
Why did you decide to join this committee?
[I joined Harriston Rising because I] wanted to meet people in town, organize fun things for local people to do.
What is your favourite event or activity to plan as a member of your committee?
Halloween - love to see kids having fun!
What do you find valuable about this experience?
All the people I have met on committee, volunteers and locals who attend events. Most valuable part is feeling like you have helped someone enjoy and participate in an event. Smiles on faces.
Is there anything else you would like to share with someone who is considering volunteering in Minto?
I have always said volunteering is so rewarding. If I could get paid for the satisfaction I get from this - wow I would make big money.

Why did you decide to join this committee?
I thought it would be fun to be help plan and work at community events and I think it is important to support the place I live.
What is your favourite event or activity to plan as a member of your committee?
Tie Dying and Halloween haunt.
What do you find valuable about this experience?
I like sharing ideas, planning events and seeing people enjoy something that we have organized.
Is there anything else you would like to share with someone who is considering volunteering in Minto?
Volunteering for the HR committee is a great way to support the community and is flexible enough, with lots of different opportunities to be as involved as you want to be.

It’s a lot of fun to see all the people enjoying themselves in these Covid times!
